Yes! In the state of Mississippi, direct access has been granted which means you can now see a physical therapist without a doctor’s referral. Patients are encouraged to contact their insurance company for confirmation of direct access eligibility prior to scheduling the first appointment.
Please bring your insurance cards and ID/driver’s license. You should also bring your physical therapy referral (if needed) and payment of choice for co-payments/co-insurance or self-pay options (as applicable). We accept payments by cash, check, debit card, or credit card (including FSA/HSA).
Comfortable work-out clothing or loose-fitting clothes are best. Clothing that allows you to expose the skin in the area being treated is preferred but not required. Gym shoes or closed toe shoes are also recommended in our clinic.
On your first visit, a licensed physical therapist will go over your medical history and screen your injury/ailment. The physical therapist will take baseline measurements of your strength, flexibility, and mobility to better determine a personalized plan of care with you. Often a brief treatment will also be provided on the first visit and a home exercise plan will be developed when appropriate.
Normally, PT evaluations are 60 minutes and formal PT treatments may vary from 40-60 minutes. We also offer 30 minute and 60-minute self-pay evaluation/treatments, dry needling appointments, and recovery/wellness sessions.
Each injury is different, and each person’s health history is unique. Typically, patients are in physical therapy for 4-6 weeks to regain function and return to their prior activities safely. Depending on severity of the disorder or injury, a patient can expect to be seen 1-3 visits a week in the clinic to regain their function while simultaneously doing a personalized home exercise plan. For example, typical sprain and strains may take 4-6 weeks while post-surgical procedures may take 2-3 months to rehab. At Move Better Physical Therapy, your physical therapist will work with your individual schedule to accommodate a plan that will facilitate healing and independence.
Ultimately, the goal of physical therapy is to return you to normal day-to-day activities, recreation, or sport independently. Our physical therapist will design a home exercise plan to fit your needs to do independently at home, or in the gym, to safely maintain your gains from physical therapy.
Move Better Physical Therapy works with most major insurance providers; we do our best to help keep the paperwork pain-free. Our office will contact your insurance company and get a breakdown of your benefits based on your individual policy prior to your first visit.
If your insurance provider requires a co-pay, we will ask for this payment at the start of each visit.
Yes, we do offer self-pay options for our physical therapy services. Please call the clinic, at 662-662-0025, for self-pay pricing.
